Finding Peace of Mind

One of the greatest and more important challenges in dealing with modern existence is finding peace of mind within the maelstrom and frenetic hysteria that so typifies modern existence. We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded by messages from the mass media that informs our view of reality. Within this infrastructure, we are urged to produce and consume, where both are opposite sides of the same point of view. Production and Consumption are the ying and yang of Western culture. We are constantly encouraged to be dissatisfied with our present state of existence and urged to purchase those products which, we are assured, will make us "happy."

Within this reality, progress is seen as directly connected to the ever-increasing expansion of markets and production of new and improved products. These products span a formidable spectrum from clothespins to pharmaceuticals. It is indeed a crazed and perilous world. The greatest risk to the individual within the vortex of this culture is the loss of our true nature as human beings.
