On and On

On and on
solar paths across earthly skies,
impaling upon human's beleaguered mind
misfortuned mark of passing time.

On and on
rivers catching ancient rocks
from lofty mountains
ultimately building deserts.

On and on
whimsical daydreams of children
in cool forest's comfort or
strident whirlwinds of city streets.

On and on
deep cavernous nights and
mournful flights of the owl.

On and on
the crimson clock.

On and on
sperms seek their resident eggs
giving life to the hollow void
that mothers so desperately carry.

On and on
memories accumulate in ancient ships,
moon-bound journeys to the stars.

On and on
spring songs born of forest branches
dissipate into the cloud strewn air.

On and on
reality is precisely made and
ever so frightfully broken.

On and on
humanity retires to its
individual conclusions.

On and on
it goes like clockwork,
the incessant mainspring of existence
unwinding through
turbulent eddies of experience.

On and on
refugees sit idly
near bus station windows
as security police prod their aching feet,
and keep the peace with indelicate gestures.

On and on
barn swallows in lofty nests
wait with mouths ajar
for mother's trusted nurture.

On and on
golden harp of morning
accompanied by the rapturous
chorus of the stars.

On and on
beleaguered night
yields up the dawn.

On and on
rules are made by the fastidious
yet broken by the desperate.

On and on
order and discretion
fall far short of perfection.

On and on
fine lines of virtue
broken by swift arrows of passion.

On and on
minds build ideas
from clay and deception.

On and on
at the fringes of the galaxy.

On and on
day's sweet passage into night.

On and on
winos meet in the shadow of the drawbridge.

On and on
in earth's proud orbit.

On and on
breath breeds breath.

On and on
joy and sorrow mingle
to make what is human
from emaciated stone.

On and on
solar paths across earthly skies,
impaling upon human's beleaguered mind
misfortuned mark of passing time.
